Independent Research: Wooden Men
Wooden Men (2021) is a series of self produced stop motion animated loops, serving as a visual response to the changing social climate in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Quarantined and separated from traditional studio spaces, professional photography equipment, and the hands-on guidance of mentors, I sought to use the medium of wooden blocks and mannequins to document current events through a degree of abstraction. While obscuring the referenced public figures and cultural events, to reveal a new facet of the changing political landscape. Created under the mentorship of Canadian artist Calla Thompson.
